The Boys Exploring Science and Technology (BEST) Camp was established in 2004 by the Vanderbilt Office of Science Outreach (now the Center for Science Outreach). The curriculum and structure of the camp is modeled on the highly successful Girls and Science (GAS) Camp, also organized by the Center for Science Outreach. Over 130 middle school-aged boys have attended BEST Camp since 2004 from a variety of public, private, and home schools. Most participants are from the Nashville area, although we have had campers from Georgia, New Mexico, and Kentucky.
"My son came home each day with stories of how cool his day had gone. We were honored to have been a part of it. Thanks again for supporting public education in this way."
The Boys Exploring Science and Technology Camp is committed to generating interest in science for all boys, engaging boys in cooperative learning in science investigation, fostering confidence in science achievement, and encouraging boys' enrollment in future science courses and in science- and technology-related careers.
